Eileen Miller
Hi, I'm Eileen and I'm running for re-election as Town Clerk of the Town of Pelham. I look forward to connecting with in real life soon!
Candidate Statement
Dear Town of Pelham Residents,
I’m Eileen Miller, and I’m excited to announce that I’m running for re-election as Town Clerk for the Town of Pelham.
I am incredibly grateful to the voters who entrusted me with this role less than a year ago. It has been a thrilling learning curve that has deepened my understanding of our Town and my appreciation for the many ways the Clerk’s office serves our entire Town. With your support, I look forward to continuing this work.
Since moving to Pelham 14 years ago with my husband, Ethan, and our two children, Josh and Ella, I have always tried to find ways to give back to the community that has given our family so much. I took on volunteer roles at all the schools my children attended and served on the Pelham Education Foundation. I also led the Friends of the Pelham Public Library for several years, championed youth health and wellbeing during my six years working at Pelham Together, and served as a Trustee on the Board of Education.
To me, community is all about showing up, lending a hand, and bringing people together. My career in hospitality and marketing taught me how to listen, include every voice, and create positive experiences—values I’m eager to continue prioritizing in this role.
When I first stepped into the Town Clerk’s role in January, I understood the responsibilities of the job on paper. What I didn’t fully appreciate at the time was just how much of the Town’s activity comes through the Clerk’s office. Over the past several months, I’ve learned a tremendous amount about all aspects of our Town, including the importance of records retention and compliance with NY State Open Meetings Law.
Early on, one of the things I heard most from neighbors was a simple desire to be kept in the loop. Staying connected to the Town shouldn't feel like hard work. That’s why we, at the Clerk’s office, reshaped how we share information with our community. Updates, notices, and meetings for the Town Council, Recreation Commission, and Sustainability Advisory Board (SAB) are now delivered through our Facebook feed and posted transparently online on the Town website, opening the Town’s doors wider than ever before. To me, effective communication isn't just an administrative duty. It’s how we build trust, show respect, and bring our community closer together.
I’ve also worked to expand how the Town serves you. One example of this is establishing Pelham’s first-ever Community Services Day—designed to make local government more accessible and helpful in your everyday life. Instead of requiring residents to travel to separate offices or navigate multiple agencies, we brought frequently needed local and Westchester County resources straight to you. At our inaugural event, neighbors were able to renew passports, notarize documents, and shred sensitive paperwork all in one convenient stop. Families connected with Pelham Together for youth programs, discovered local history with Town Historian Art Scinta, and learned practical environmental tips including mosquito mitigation and the Healthy Lawns Program from our SAB and EcoPel.
Bringing essential services and community partners together under one roof saves you time and builds a stronger, more connected Pelham. Based on the overwhelming turnout, we look forward to making Community Services Day even bigger and better next year.
Another area I have focused on is ensuring that every resident has clear access to our local government. Moving our monthly Town meetings to the Daronco Town House this past year was an important step to ensure a physically accessible venue for everyone. However, the space lacked the technical capacity for live streaming and recording. I stepped up immediately to start building the needed infrastructure. While live streaming of Town meetings isn't legally required, I believe complete transparency is essential. We are actively upgrading our audio-visual setup and are making continuous improvements because physical accessibility and digital transparency go hand-in-hand in making local government work for everyone.
I’m asking for your support on November 3rd to continue serving as your Town Clerk.
I look forward to meeting many of you in the coming weeks and encourage you to learn more about me and all the Democratic candidates running for office this year at the Town of Pelham Democratic Committee website.
Early voting runs from October 24th through November 1st, and information about how and where to vote can be found at New York State Board of Elections—Ways to Vote.
Thank you,
Eileen Miller
